"B" VOM WALDGEIST

Bristol vom Kürbis Haken has been bred to Batch vom Flussdrehen and is confirmed pregnant with our upcoming litter. If all goes as planned we expect puppies to arrive December 2024.

Bristol is an all around delightful dog to be around. She is a medium sized high drive female who excels in every discipline but is especially talented in the field and forest chasing birds. She has tons of point and extraordinary levels of caution and manners. She handles ruffed grouse like no other Deutsch-Drahthaar I’ve ever been around. An extremely cooperative dog, Bristol was trained and tested by my wife Jenna and completed her VGP and JGHV testing career at just 17 months old.

Bristol’s first litter (E vom Kürbis Haken) produced 12 very talented hunting dogs who have made us very proud over the last two years. 10 of the 12 dogs tested through the JGHV system with many many 11’s and 12’s awards along the way and Einz vom Kürbis winning the 2024 Armbruster in Mankota, MN. Einz scored a perfect 199 HZP and was awarded Best Water Dog and Best Field Dog for the event. With their HZP’s behind them, these dogs are hunting hard this year all across the country from Montana to Alabama to Pennsylvania.

Batch is a powerful schwarzshimmel male who resides in North Carolina. Batch’s owner Jason guides duck hunts on the coast where Batch takes his job very seriously. Batch is quiet in the blind, is a very strong pointer, has a great nose and a fantastic off-switch when he’s not hunting. Potentially one of the most impressive things about Batch and Jason is that successfully completed all three JGHV tests together without ever attending a training day. That is unheard of especially for a first time handler! Zooming out, we consider the B litter vom Flussdrehen to be a very nice group as a whole so we are excited for what Batch brings to the genetic table.

After the success of Bristol’s first litter there has been a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding our breeding plans for her in our kennel. At this time we are not accepting any additional deposits for this litter but may have availability after pups are born depending on final headcount and male/female splits. Please reach out if you’re interested.

11/12/24 - Pregnancy Confirmed

Bristol was confirmed to be pregnant with a blood test today. We have spent the last month hunting Maine hard for grouse and woodcock so whether they realize it or not, the puppies have their first wild bird contacts under their belts. We are just five short weeks away from puppies and preparations are in full swing here.

The litter had their tails and blood draws done at the vet this morning. They are all healthy and growing well. A blood card for each puppy will be submitted to Neogen Genomics to test for furnishings and other relevant genetic diseases as recommended by VDD-GNA. Results should be back in 4-6 weeks.

3/29/2024 - Puppies Have Arrived

Celyn whelped 7 healthy puppies on Tuesday, March 27th 2024. She and the puppies are all doing well. There are 6 females (3 brsch, 3 braun mit abz.) and 1  braun mit abz. male. More photos to come once everyone has settled in and we get a little sleep.

3/22/24 - Puppy X-Ray

Celyn ventured out to the vet’s office on Friday afternoon for her puppy count x-ray. She was confirmed to have 9 puppies on board. Our vet took a minute to check out the puppies with the ultrasound and saw lots of strong healthy heartbeats. We have been able to feel them moving around in her belly for the last week or so and they are an active bunch. Space is running out!

Due to the litter size we do expect to have some availability once the litter arrives. Please reach out to us if you are interested in adding a hunting partner in 2024.
